Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” has become the most-viewed video on YouTube. It takes the place of Psy’s “Gangnam Style” and has been streamed 2,895,373,709 times.
The music video was first released on April 6 2015 and appears on the soundtrack to Furious 7. The visuals include a tribute to Paul Walker, the star of the franchise who passed away in 2013.
“See You Again” reached 1 billion views in six months, and hit 2 billion last September. BBC News notes that, in total, “See You Again”‘s stream add up to a time equivalent of 21,759 years.
“Gangnam Style” has held the top spot on YouTube since 2012 and still boasts 2,894,426,475 views. In 2014 it “broke” YouTube’s play counter and forced the company to rewrite its code.
“See You Again”‘s reign at the top may be short lived, however. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” video has racked up nearly 2.5 billion views in six months since its release in January 2017.
