With the massive box office success of N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood looked to milk the cow some more, and, according to Daz Dillinger, that time has come rather quickly.
Daz spoke to TMZ and let them know that Tha Dogg Pound — Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg and, of course, Daz himself — will be the subject of Hollywood’s next big rap biopic. According to Daz, the film will be titled Dogg Pound 4 Life, and will serve as a sequel of sorts to Straight Outta Compton, picking up where that first movie ends and detailing the lives of Tha Dogg Pound.
TMZ even says some casting has taken place, including Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young playing the role of his dad, even though Dre won’t be on board as a producer. Ice Cube won’t be on board as a producer, either, but Daz notes that Cube is offering his support.
Daz has been talking up the movie on his Instagram for a few weeks now, and, much like Master P, he’s promoting the film using a website that is either dead or not yet functional. There doesn’t appear to be a studio attached just yet, so Dogg Pound 4 Life may end up being a figment of Daz’s imagination, or the next big-budget rap blockbuster. Only time will tell.
