The title for Dr. Dre’s long-awaited third solo studio album has been “scrapped.” During their “Shots Fired” podcast, producer Dawaun Parker (Eminem’s Relapse, 50 Cent’s Curtis) shared details with hosts Jeff Weiss and Nocando about Dre’s upcoming album and its progress.
“The album he’s working on is not called Detox. He scrapped Detox a couple years ago, and came up with another title. I won’t say what the title is because I haven’t seen it online or anything yet,” Parker says.
Parker continued to say that Dre has a rollout plan sketched out for the 2001 follow-up album, and is relying on the lead single: “He was like, ‘We’re going to call it this, and we’re going to put it out this way and this way and this way.’ He told a couple of people and we kinda knew that’s just what the thing we were working on, and iaf we get the joint that he feels like he can lead off with, then that’s what the project will be. I’m still under the impression it’s still that one.”
What we now know is that Dr. Dre is working on an album, but it’s no longer titled Detox. What we don’t know is when it will be released.
