Fashion and hip-hop have long gone hand-in-hand – from Run DMC’s donning of the laceless adidas shell toes to the ubiquitous Air Force 1 and, more recently, the appropriation of high fashion labels like Givenchy, the musical genre and its proprietors have always been at the forefront of contemporary fashion. Illustrating this point to the nth degree, we recently caught up with none other than Kendrick Lamar to catch the young rapper’s own thoughts on style. Rocking a head-turning sweatsuit ensemble from Scottish designer Christopher Kane, K-Dot shed light on some of his own faves – Nike Cortez kicks, Levi’s denim, and an LA Dodgers fitted – and even delved into why he himself has yet to get into the world of fashion design.
