This year, Chromeo’s breakout electro-funk blast of an album Fancy Footwork turned ten. In celebration of the milestone, The FADER sat down with the Canadian duo’s Dave 1 and P-Thugg for a look back at their beginnings. In the video above, they discuss the whirlwind recording process that brought the album — a perfectly danceable combination of French electronic influences with Minneapolis funk-inspired undertones — to life.

“Our music was always sideways to everything,” P-Thugg says of their sound. Watch Chromeo tell the story of Fancy Footwork above, where they also hint at what we might be able to hear from them in the future.
