Kodak Black has released his full Project Baby documentary on YouTube. The WorldStarHipHop original documentary, an accompaniment to Kodak’s debut album Painting Pictures, was first screened for journalists at Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York City Thursday night. The doc is directed by Mandon Lovett and features music from C-Clip Beatz.
“Some people, they be thinking [I’m] dumb and shit,” Kodak says early in the documentary. “They just look at me and just already discriminate and stereotype. But, like, when I was in elementary school, I used to go to this little camp. We used to do spelling bees, and I used to beat high schoolers in spelling bees. I ain’t even know who I was spelling them words. But I just always knew I was gifted, but I was bad. I was bad, but I was smart.”
Kodak was MIA for the documentary’s premiere, as he’s currently incarcerated for violating his probation last month. Previously, he did time in St. Lucie County Jail in Florida after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge and drug paraphernalia possession. After his release Nov. 28, Billboard reports Kodak was extradited to Florence, South Carolina to face a sexual battery charge. According to the arrest warrant, Kodak is accused of forcing “the victim onto the bed in the room and then onto the floor of the room” as she repeatedly “told the defendant no and to stop.”
Kodak posted bond on Dec. 1 and was released from jail in South Carolina. Kodak’s attorney, Gary Kollin, later said he was “firmly convinced” his client would be vindicated. For separate charges including robbery and false imprisonment in Broward County, Florida, Kodak had been sentenced to five years probation and a year of house arrest. XXL reported last month that Kodak appeared in Broward County court and was arrested at the courthouse for violating the terms of his probation.
Prior to the probation violation arrest, Kodak Black had been announced as an opener on Future’s upcoming Nobody Safe Tour alongside Migos and Tory Lanez. He is currently still listed on the lineup.
