Nardwuar has interviewed Drake and his longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib for his interview series. Unsurprisingly, Nardwuar goes deep into the pair’s personal, musical, and family histories, as well as excavating their first ever collaborative record—produced when 40 was still a studio intern. Drake also discusses Biggie Smalls, Vybz Kartel, Kanye and Madlib sampling his uncle Larry Graham’s “Stand Up and Shout About Love,” many of Toronto’s lesser-known musical legends, the origins of the term “the 6,” why he no longer kisses fans at shows, recording music pre-fame with Dr. Dre, and much more. Nardwuar also played Drake a special message from Timmy Thomas, the artist sampled on “Hotline Bling.”
