For the last 15 years, British DJ Mr Thing has delighted crowds around the globe with his sick mixing. He describes his current collection as about “30,000” pieces of vinyl, which makes him a perfect subject for this latest episode of Fuse’s digital series Crate Diggers.

“Music, for me, came from my mom,” Mr Thing says. “My mom was really into Motown, soul music and some reggae as well. When we were in the car, it was always Stevie Wonder, George Benson, all the time.”

That love of classic soul filtered into him finding the first album he truly fell in love with: Al Green’s I’m Still in Love With You. “It’s packed full of samples and breaks,” he says.

Mr Thing admits to having a pretty serious vinyl addiction, but as far as outlandish spending goes, he’s quite modest. It’s more about the thrill of the hunt. “The most I’ve ever spent is $300,” he says. “It was an Italian soundtrack [for the film Sharks and Men] and a Japanese issue of it. I even went and found the film online.”
