On his son rooting for him: “Louise, my sweet, sweet, sweet nanny hit me a few minutes ago and was just like, no matter what way it spins, Rambo will be clapping his little hands for you. And that right there alone is just like, come on man. That is the win. He’s also just kind of figuring out his little hands and he’s got three whole teeth and he’s due to crawl any day now. So having that and looking at that…I just hope he thinks I’m cool. I don’t know. I want to be the man to that kid.”
On the toughest part about award shows: “Trying to get to where I can feel like I’m ready to be social. Sometimes it’s tough. I feel like the on and off switch is very hard to find. I got to find the on button and flip it on and be, once I get there though, I’ll be stoked.”
On finding out he was nominated again this year: “This year, I just didn’t think I was even in the conversation at all. So I woke up and I had, it was like my birthday, almost. So many calls and texts about this and I was like, what the hell happened? I think for this one, it’s really amazing to me because it’s for the album and for the vocals; being honored for the whole group of work but also being honored for the craft itself of the vocal.”
